Details about the meeting between the Georgian National Communications Commission Members and Cable Operators

On December 1, this year, the GNCC members and cable operators organized a meeting.The dispute details between the broadcasters and transit companies were discussed during the meeting. We would like to remind that the TV-Companies Imedi, Rustavi 2, Maestro, GDS, Marao and Comedy Channel request payment from the authorized persons for the re-transit of their signals.

Companies, authorized persons on transit held protest demonstration at the premises of the Georgian National Communications Commission. As the operators state the GNCC is incapable to implement its duties, it is interested party and supports concrete business entities. The operators from Tbilisi and the regions, as well as their subscribers, participated in the demonstration.

Official statement of the Georgian Cable Televisions Union in response to the information campaign of the TV-Companies Rustavi 2, Imedi, Maestro, GDS, Comedy Channel and Marao

TV-Companies were never interested to reach any agreement with the cable operators and all proposals of the operators were rejected by them. It is also noteworthy that ratings of the mentioned TV-Companies are falling day-by-day, that is most probably connected with increased interest of the audience to foreign content offered by cable networks and placing the mentioned TV-Companies in the same package turned up successful for them.
